  • 3 semester hours of eligible coursework or WVLearns courses required per 1-year renewal cycle
  • Provisional certificate may be renewed no more than twice for a total of 3 years of validity
  • Minimum 3.0 GPA required for all semester hour coursework
  • Official transcripts must be sent directly from the institution to WVDE
  • Educators must transition to a Professional Teaching Certificate after exhausting provisional renewals
  • Renewal submitted online through the WV certification portal at wveis.k12.wv.us/certportal
  • Renewal fee is $35
