Accepted PD Activity Types

  • Professional learning and growth sessions (1 hour = 1 PDP)
  • Accredited college/university coursework (1 semester credit = 10 PDPs)
  • National Board Certification (earning NBC = 30 PDPs)
  • Clinical mentorship for educator preparation program candidates (20 PDPs)
  • TDOE-approved micro-credentials (6 PDPs each)
  • Two years of qualifying educator experience (in lieu of PDPs)

Special Rules & Notes

Important notes for this license

  • 60 PDPs required per 6-year renewal cycle
  • Educators may substitute 2 years of qualifying experience for the PDP requirement
  • All educators must meet TN Literacy Success Act requirements via approved training or qualifying assessment
  • License must be renewed by expiration date; reactivation window extends to October 1 of expiration year
  • All transactions submitted electronically through TNCompass at tdoe.tncompass.org
