Important notes for this license

  • 6 education-related credits required per 5-year cycle, all of which may be transcripted credits or CECH
  • All educators must complete a minimum of 1 clock hour of approved suicide awareness and prevention training
  • Requires a master's degree for initial issuance
  • Certificate expires July 1 of the expiration year; invalid if not renewed by October 1
  • Renewal submitted through the South Dakota Educator Certification Portal
