Important notes for this license

  • 75 PLUs required per 5-year renewal cycle (15 PLUs per year of employment)
  • PLU requirement being phased in through 2030 — full 75 PLU requirement applies to renewals in 2030 and beyond
  • Educators who achieve an aspirational benchmark (National Board certification, advanced degree, RIDE leadership recognition) plus 60 PLUs may progress to an Advanced (7-year) certificate
  • Advanced certificate requires 60 PLUs over 7 years plus evidence of aspirational benchmark
  • Renewal applications submitted through My eCert on the RIDE portal
  • Reinstatement fee applies for expired certificates
