Special Rules & Notes
Important notes for this license
- 180 Act 48 hours (or 6 semester credits, or 6 PDE-approved CPE credits) required every 5 years
- All activities must relate to the educator's area of assignment or certification
- Pre-approval from employing Pennsylvania public school district is strongly recommended before beginning coursework
- Hours tracked through PERMS (Professional Educator Record Management System) at perms.pa.gov
- PDE notifies educators 12 months before expiration of unfulfilled requirements
- Certificates placed on voluntary inactive status require a $75 fee to suspend continuing education requirements
