Special Rules & Notes
Important notes for this license
- Valid for 6 years of active service (not calendar years)
- Must be converted to Level II certificate before expiration
- To upgrade to Level II: complete 24 semester hours of graduate-level credits and 3 years of satisfactory teaching under a mentor
- Act 48 continuing education requirements do not apply to Level I certificates — only to Level II and above
- Advancement to Level II submitted through TIMS (Teacher Information Management System)
