Important notes for this license

  • Valid for 6 years of active service (not calendar years)
  • Must be converted to Level II certificate before expiration
  • To upgrade to Level II: complete 24 semester hours of graduate-level credits and 3 years of satisfactory teaching under a mentor
  • Act 48 continuing education requirements do not apply to Level I certificates — only to Level II and above
  • Advancement to Level II submitted through TIMS (Teacher Information Management System)
