Special Rules & Notes
Important notes for this license
- 8 CEUs (80 clock hours) required per 5-year renewal cycle (1 CEU = 10 clock hours)
- Elementary teachers: 3 CEUs subject area, 3 CEUs literacy, 2 CEUs general
- Renewal may occur on or after April 15 of the year the license expires
- All renewal credits must be earned within the five-year period prior to the expiration date
- Applications submitted through the NCDPI Online Licensure System
- Expired licenses may be renewed up to 5 years after expiration with the same 8 CEU requirement
