Special Rules & Notes

Important notes for this license

  • Level 3-A licenses must be renewed every 9 years; license expires June 30
  • Renewal requires approximately 90 professional development points, a superintendent's recommendation, and an effective or higher evaluation rating
  • Advancement from Level 2 to Level 3-A requires completing APL I–II Micro-Credentials with a mastery score of 85% or higher
  • Must have taught at least 3 full school years with a Level 2 license and successful evaluations before advancing
  • A $120 non-refundable fee applies for renewal; $150 if the grace period is exceeded
  • Renewal submitted through the NMPED Online Licensure Portal
