Important notes for this license

  • 150 CLUs (clock hours) required per 5-year renewal cycle
  • CLUs must be verified by the employing school district through the Certification Update Packet
  • Renewal is processed through the employing school system — the district submits on behalf of the teacher via the Louisiana Educator Certification (LEC) portal
  • Renewal application available through louisianabelieves.com
  • As of January 2025, the $25 criminal background check fee has been eliminated for renewals
  • Certificate expires June 30 of the renewal year
