Accepted PD Activity Types
- Graduate credit hours from a regionally accredited college or university (15 graduate hours per 5-year cycle under standard option)
- Continuing Education Option (CEO): independent professional growth plan including courses, workshops, and PD activities approved by employer
- Three years of full-time teaching experience within the 5-year certificate period

- Alternative: complete 15 graduate hours OR fulfill the CEO requirements
- CEO requires a professional growth plan approved by the educator's employer
- Kentucky law (KRS 158.070) requires 24 hours of PD per year; schools provide 6 hours, teachers may earn remaining 18 online
- Renewal fee approximately $85; certificate issued by the Education Professional Standards Board (EPSB)
- Applications submitted through the EPSB online system
- Certificate expires on June 30 of the renewal year
