Accepted PD Activity Types

  • Semester credits from a regionally accredited college or university (graduate or undergraduate)
  • District/charter school/private school in-service hours (15 contact hours = 1 semester credit, up to 3 credits)
  • Individualized Professional Learning Plan (IPLP) activities approved by employer

Important notes for this license

  • 6 semester credits required per 5-year renewal cycle (90 contact hours if using in-service)
  • Credits must be educationally related to the IPLP or the educator's professional practice
  • District in-service hours may count for up to 3 of the required 6 credits
  • Certificate expires August 31; renewal window opens January 1 of the expiration year
  • No extensions granted — lapsed certificates require reinstatement
  • Renewal submitted online through the Idaho State Department of Education portal
  • Renewal fee: $75 plus $3.25 online convenience fee
