Accepted PD Activity Types
- In-service points from a Florida master in-service program (20 points = 1 semester hour)
- Semester hours of college coursework from an accredited institution
- Passing Florida Subject Area Exams in a subject other than the current certificate area
- Teaching college-level courses (1 semester hour taught = 1 semester hour credit)
- National Board for Professional Teaching Standards certification (satisfies full renewal requirement)
- Florida department-approved professional development activities
Special Rules & Notes
Important notes for this license
- 6 semester hours or 120 in-service points required per 5-year renewal cycle
- At least 1 semester hour or 20 in-service points must be in teaching students with disabilities (SWD)
- National Board Certification satisfies the full renewal requirement for the corresponding 5-year period
- Certificate period runs July 1 to June 30; renewal must be complete before June 30 of expiration year
- Renewal submitted through the FLDOE Educator Certification online system at www.fldoe.org
