Important notes for this license
- 50 clock hours of acceptable professional development required per 5-year renewal cycle
- Alternatively, educators may complete 3 semester hours of acceptable college credit in lieu of 50 PD hours
- Another option: 3 years of full-time educational experience plus 50 clock hours of PD
- National Board Certification earned during the certificate's valid period also satisfies renewal
- Application must be submitted between January 1 and June 30 of the certificate's expiration year
- Renewal applications submitted through the ACE (Alabama Certification for Educators) online portal
